What is the Nuclear Reactor?

The nuclear reactor is a special power plant located in the Tower area. It's different from the four regular power plants — it requires active combat to complete rather than just locating and repairing.

It's part of the escape route: fixing the reactor's power stations is one of the requirements for triggering the escape sequence. But even if you're not escaping this run, the emerald payout alone makes it worth the detour.

The layout was updated since launch. Each repair station now sits inside a dedicated zombie room rather than an open corridor — you must clear the enemies before the station becomes interactable.

Why Do It Every Run
  • 6–8 emeralds per clear (avg. 7)
  • Multiple clears possible per session
  • Escape route required — multitask both objectives
  • +15 escape bonus if you leave the map
  • Best gem-per-minute besides daily quests

Step-by-Step Clearing Guide

  1. 1

    Prepare Your Loadout

Equip medium armor and a gas mask at minimum before entering. Berserker players should bring a mace or fire axe. Commander players should have their Desert Eagle loaded and airstrike ready.

  2. 2

    Wait for Day 5

The reactor gates will not open before Day 5. If you try early you'll see the message "Reactor won't open. Wait until day five." Use the extra days to farm loot and upgrade gear.

  3. 3

    Enter from the Main Entrance

Head to the Tower area and enter via the main gate. The layout was updated — each repair station now has its own dedicated zombie section you must clear before you can interact.

  4. 4

    Clear Each Zombie Section

Work through each area methodically. Berserker: spin with the mace, the slam every 3 hits wipes grouped enemies. Commander: drop an Airstrike when cornered, clean up stragglers with the Desert Eagle.

  5. 5

    Watch for Electrical Zombies

New electrical zombies dodge sideways when you hit them — they're not immune, just evasive. Keep attacking; extra swings will finish them. They don't deal bonus damage when they hit you.

  6. 6

Repair Each Power Station (5 sec timer)

Hold the interact key on each station. The timer is 5 seconds — clear zombies first so nothing interrupts you. There are multiple stations spread through the reactor.

  7. 7

    Exit and Collect 6–8 Emeralds

After all stations are repaired, exit the reactor area. Your emerald reward (6–8 gems) will be granted automatically. If you also escape the map this run, stack the additional 15-gem escape bonus.

New: Electrical Zombies

The updated reactor layout introduced a new enemy type. Electrical zombies dodge sideways when you hit them — they appear to glitch or teleport a short distance after each hit, making them frustrating to chase. They are not invincible — they just require more swings to finish.

Emerald Math

How Many Emeralds Per Run?

The reactor alone gives 6–8 emeralds. Do it every single run, and you're banking roughly 7 gems on top of whatever else you farm that session.

Stack it with an escape: fix the four regular power plants, clear the reactor stations, then trigger the escape for an extra +15 gems. A single complete run can net 30–50 emeralds with all objectives cleared.

Reactor clear 6–8 gems
4 regular power plants 4 gems
Military base (every 5 waves) ~6 gems
Raider base emerald chest ~4 gems
Escape bonus +15 gems
Total (full run) ~30–50 gems

Pro Tip

Never Skip the Reactor

Even a quick solo clear with medium armor takes under 3 minutes and pays 7 gems on average. The new zombie rooms are actually easier to farm than the old open-corridor layout because enemies funnel into choke points. Berserker or Commander — both can clear this comfortably from Day 5 onward. There is no run where skipping the reactor is the right call.
