Necromancer Nerf:
What Actually Changed

The Necromancer was already one of the most popular classes — used by the majority of public lobby players. The latest patch hit it with two crippling changes: a hard zombie cap of 10 and a Call of the Dead that now kills your existing summons instead of stacking them.

Before vs After

Before Patch
Max zombie cap
Unlimited stacking
Call of the Dead
Stacks — keeps existing summons
Melee reincarnation
15% chance (unchanged)
Scythe reincarnation
Every 30 s — lasts 2 min
After Patch (Current)
Max zombie cap
10 — hard limit
Call of the Dead
Kills current summons on use
Melee reincarnation
15% chance (unchanged)
Scythe reincarnation
Every 30 s — lasts 2 min

Why This Nerf Hurts So Much

The Necromancer's strength wasn't just the zombie count — it was versatility. It could run solo, support, offense, defense, and scouting simultaneously. No other class in the game covers all six roles. That made it the go-to for players who want options.

The stacking ability was the core loop: summon with Call of the Dead, reinforce with melee kills, scout with brutes collected outside the base at night. At Wave 150+ the summons died quickly anyway — so capping at 10 wasn't solving any balance problem. It was just removing the most satisfying part of the class.

The suggested fix: cap at 15–20 instead of 10, and make Call of the Dead keep the strongest summons rather than deleting them all. That preserves balance while rewarding players who put in the time to collect high-quality brutes.

Community Reaction

"I just don't feel like playing the game anymore man. Hopefully they come out with a new good class or the necromancer rework comes fast."

"People are quitting. The majority of public lobbies run Necromancer — this nerf hit everyone."

Still covers all six roles (solo, team, offense, defense, support, scouting). Playable, but the ceiling was significantly lowered. Hesitate before recommending a fresh purchase until the promised rework arrives.
